Joseph Farley is an Olympian in water polo (1928, Amsterdam), a national champion in swimming, a captain of the NYAC and a 1982 Hall of Fame inductee.
Joseph Farley attended Fordham University, where he was a member of the swim team. Farley served as a team captain and, throughout his collegiate career, went undefeated in the 100 yards freestyle.
During the late 1920s, Farley competed at the highest levels of two different sports: swimming and water polo. At the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, Farley played on the USA water polo team, which finished in fifth place; additionally, in 1929, he won the AAU national championship in the 440 yards relay.
Farley served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. After leaving the Navy, Farley served as the Club captain in 1950.
Joseph Farley died on May 29th, 1984 at the age of 78.
