Marcus Hurley is a four-time Olympic champion in cycling (1904, St Louis) and a 1981 NYAC Hall of Fame inductee.

Marcus Hurley was born on December 22nd, 1883, in New York City. He played basketball at Columbia University and won two NCAA championships. Hurley also served as the captain of the NYAC basketball team that won the 1905 metropolitan championship.

The 1904 Olympic Games in St Louis were an enormous success for the NYAC, due in large part to the performance of Marcus Hurley. Hurley won four gold medals: in the 1/4 mile, 1/3 mile, 1/2 mile and one-mile bicycle races. In addition, he won the bronze medal in the two-mile race.


Hurley died on March 28th, 1941.
