Carl Obert is a national champion in handball and a 1993 NYAC Hall of Fame inductee.

Obert and his brothers, Oscar and Ruby, dominated American handball in the late 1950s and 60s. Carl Obert's specialty was three wall, but he excelled in all aspects of the game. With his brother Ruby, he won national championships in one and four wall doubles.

As a family - including the parents, who were often in the gallery supporting their sons - the Obert's were a force in American handball. Between the three of them, they won 78 national championships.  Accordingly, all three have been inducted into the Halls of Fame of both the NYAC and US Handball.
