The George L. Lyon Memorial Trophy is one of many visually striking trophies housed in the Hall of Fame. The Trophy is named in honor of George Lyon, the 1915 national amateur trapshooting champion and NYAC member, who died suddenly in 1916 at the age of 34. In memory of their teammate, the NYAC's trapshooting team donated the trophy to the Club shortly after his death. Since that time, the Trophy has been kept at the NYAC, with replica trophies being awarded to the country's top amateur trapshooter.
